What a joy it is for us to work alongside early years settings across the UK. We are always in awe of everything you have going on in your nurseries.
We have been scouring the web to find fantastic examples of the amazing work early years settings are doing day in day out. We wanted to share some we found with you as each of these stood out to us for one reason or another. Wellies Day Nursery (Milton Keynes)
Wellies Day Nursery is on a farm and we can imagine how amazing that is for the children who attend this setting! We loved the photos on their website showing the range of ages and stages they cater for and also – that outside area!!! We are in love with it and wish we could visit to see it in person. They are growing plants from seeds with the children and taking full advantage of the environment they are in. What a blessing to have found such a wonderful place to nurture young children and their inquisitive minds! We imagine they spend many hours watching the working farm vehicles from their safe enclosed space. What a joy.
Great Wood Farm (Grantham)
Another farm setting here with a focus on outdoor education and forest schools approaches. But what also stood out to us was their sensory room which gives children a chance to connect to their senses – from relaxing in a specially designed environment to discovering textures and lights which stimulate young explorers. There are even sensory plants in the garden! We imagine the tipi gets a lot of use too – especially when children have tired themselves out at the football area. Great work, Great Wood Farm!
Ducklings Childcare (Leeds)
At Ducklings Childcare we were very impressed by their amazing play structure in the garden! It looks better than many public play parks we have been to!
The special aeroplane seesaw looks amazing. And the fidget board we are sure draws children over to play and explore often. We love the parking area for the cars and scooter too and the decking area which looks like a great place to chill out when the climbing frame has tired us out. Even the concrete part of the outdoor area has an engaging construction area which draws you straight in. We want to play! With a mud kitchen, planters and water play to explore as well we are sure there is never a dull moment. Plenty of ideas any setting could adopt in any size space here so do take a peek at their website!
Homeland Day Nursery (Cheshire)
A bouncy castle?! In a nursery garden?! We can imagine just how much fun this is for the children and great exercise too. Lots of colourful equipment makes for an engaging outdoor area and there is an area with planting troughs for children to learn more about nature. A great balance of activities for every age and stage. We love seeing the rows of wellies out for children to jump into and explore in any weather. We also saw that the children have regular French lessons, active movement class and musical activities all delivered by outside specialists which we are sure are very well received.
Anglia Sunshine Nurseries (Sudbury)
We may have been heading towards lunchtime when we found this nursery website but we were particularly drawn to the page about their qualified in-house chef! The menu and pictures of the food had our tummies rumbling. We know how important good fuel is for growing bodies so parents must love knowing their children are well fed at nursery! Looking at the photos it seems children really do ‘eat the rainbow’ each week with a varied offering for snacks, lunch and tea. We wonder if they do takeaways…!
Fireflies (Smethwick)
Fireflies nursery follows an Alistair Bryce-Clegg ABC approach alongside Reggio Emilia with a focus on skills-based learning which enhances childrens’ knowledge.
As well as providing a great environment for children, we also loved their art displays on their walls and showcased on the website. We imagine that art work from all of these budding artists will continue to spread smiles of joy on the faces of parents and children alike.
